No more waiting days to count CFUs. In less than 30 seconds, the QUANTOM Tx™ scans up to 10 fields of view to produce accurate single bacterial cell counts. The advanced software can account for the varying shapes, sizes, and arrangements of different bacteria.
Although smaller and simpler than their eukaryotic counterparts, bacteria are an incredibly diverse group of organisms that come in multiple shapes, sizes, and arrangements. Colony counting is a highly variable and unreliable, as it is only an estimate of the viable cells present. Even expensive flow cytometers and laser scanning cytometers register each particle, single or clustered, as a single event. The QUANTOM Tx™ Microbial Cell Counter is an image-based, automated cell counter that can detect individual bacterial cells in mere minutes. Its novel bacteria-optimized cell detection software can count individual bacterial cells in even the tightest clusters.
Great machine with simple precision that's reliable.
Overall, QUANTOM Tx is user-friendly, simple, quick, but accurate and accountable. The whole measurement for total and viable counts can be optimized to as short as 30 min for the entire process. The results are reliable and accountable. I'd recommend this for all cell biology work. Compared with traditional cell plating which requires overnight incubation for viable results or total cell count by using the Neubauer method. With QUANTOM Tx, we can have reliable results and reduce the total process time.
Overall, we are very satisfied with the platform. It is a mainstay of our workflow.
We use the Logos QUANTOM Tx (QTx) to enumerate various species of bacteria grown in liquid media. Prior to purchasing the QTx, enumeration was done via the spread-plate method. The rapid quantitation afforded by the QTx allows us to have a result in as little as 30 minutes, compared to 3 days for the spread-plate method. We have also found the QTx useful for determining the proportion of live/dead cells within a sample. The simplicity and ease of use of the QTx allows for rapid training of new operators and excellent repeatability. In addition, Logos' after-sales service has been exceptional.
